Eleanor Sophia Turbes was born on October 14, 1911 in Burnstown Township to Michael and Elizabeth (Sturm) Lang. On October 26, 1932 she married Mathew L. Turbes in Springfield. Eleanor was a long time resident of the Springfield area. The couple farmed in Stately Township for 40 years and moved into Springfield in 1973. In 1994 they moved to the Lake Villa Maria Apartments in Sleepy Eye and later to the Countryside Retirement in Sleepy Eye and in April of 2003 they moved to the Gil-Mor Manor inMorgan. In May of 2004 Eleanor became a resident at the St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Eleanor was a member of the St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, a member of St. Ann's CCW, St. Monica's Court, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She also was a past member of the Springfield Senior Citizens, East Stately Extension Club, and the Birthday Clubs. Eleanor enjoyed working with flowers, gardening and playing cards. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her family of which they hold manyfond memories. Eleanor died on Friday, November 19, 2004 at the St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 93 years. She will be remembered by her son - Glen and wife Kathy Turbes of Willmar; grandchildren - Cheryl and husband Fritz Bredenbeck of Edina, Brian and Kathy Rosenhammer of California, and Deb Jensen and friend John Bassett of Elk River; a son-in-law - Leander Rosenhammer of Mankato; a sister-in-law - Gladys Lang of Springfield and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Mathew in February of 2004; daughter - Angela Rosenhammer in May of 2004; and brothers - Hugo andEugene.
