Eleanor Frank

Eleanor Theresa was welcomed into this world on November 7, 1934 at her parent's farm in Browerville, MN. She was the third of seven children born to Charles and Mary Drayna and was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Browerville from the 1st - 8th grade, and continued her High School education at Browerville High School. Eleanor's greatest childhood enjoyments included helping her father with field work and gardening with her mother. One of her most cherished memories was her 8th grade graduation trip (a gift from her parents) with her sister Doris to Superior Wisconsin. Eleanor married Jack Frank in 1951 and was blessed with four children. The marriage ended in divorce and eventually Jack had it annulled. Eleanor spent years living in Montana and Michigan before settling down in Janesville, Minnesota. Eleanor enrolled in the nurses training program at Faribault Tech and graduated in 1980. She spent years caring for patients in nursing homes in Janesville, Westbrook, and Lamberton. In 1990 she took a two year leave of absence to care full time for her son Ron who was diagnosed with ALS. She retired from nursing in 2006. Her greatest joy in life was becoming a grandmother and she felt especially blessed to enjoy being a great-grandmother 11 times over. Those who knew her well affectionately called her Granny and she wore that title with immense pride. She stitched hours of love into over 50 quilts she made for her family and friends. Her love for gardening continued into adulthood, and she was an avid reader, pinochle player and circle a word hunter. Eleanor was called to her heavenly home on May 2nd at the age of 82 years 5 months and 25 days. She will be greatly missed and continually remembered by: her children: Rita Wersal of Lamberton, Richard (fiance Shirley) Frank of Salem, MA, and Robert (Barrett) Frank of Chicago, IL. 9 grandchildren: Amy (Tim) Iverson, Chad (Jenny) Stavnes, Tyrus (special friend Teri), Jordan and Brandon Stavnes; Jonathan and Jennifer Frank; Benjamin and Amanda Frank. 11 great-grandchildren: Jacob and Megan Iverson; Emma (fianc Cole Anderson), Noah, Lillian, Abraham, Henry and Hazel Stavnes; Zoey and Maya Stavnes; Scarlett Frank. Siblings: Alan (Ann) Drayna of Eagle Bend, Mike Drayna of Monticello, Alice Steinmetz of Browerville and Carol Sturm of Brooklyn Park, and many other relatives and friends who will forever miss "their Granny". She is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, sister Doris, brother Jerry and brother in laws Jerry Steinmetz and Jim Richard, her son Ron, and grandson Clifford Stavnes.
