Eldon Kintzi

July 27, 1926 — September 5, 2018

Eldon Arthur Kintzi passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Mayo Health System, St. James at the age of 92. Eldon was born July 27, 1926 in Nelson Township to Albert & Marie (Knudson) Kintzi. He was baptized and confirmed at Albion Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. He graduated from St. James High School in 1944. He entered the army in January 1945 serving in Company M, 17th Infantry, Asiatic Pacific Theater, being honorably discharged in November 1946. After his discharge from the army he returned home to farm with his father, Albert, until his fathers death in 1960. Eldon married Goldie Chute on October 1, 1950 at the Lake Hanska Lutheran Parsonage. Following their marriage they resided in Nelson Township for 68 years, first living with his parents for 5 years and then moving across the field to their current farmstead. Eldon farmed his entire life and constructed cabinets and many other woodworking items. He enjoyed working the soil, planting crops, gardening, and harvesting; at one time they even raised beef cattle. Many people were recipients of his abundant produce. He was coined the lawn ranger by his family as he manicured his large lawn, leaving their place looking like an oasis. He had a love of baseball, playing the game at a young age and later following the Twins and other baseball teams. He was a master at baseball trivia. He held many board positions at Albion Lutheran Church and was a former member of the LaSalle Locker Board. He was a supporter of the Godahl Store serving as Board member at one time and where he met his future wife, Goldie, who was employed there as a clerk. Eldon will be remembered for his kind, gentle, generous, and humble personality. Eldon is survived by his wife, Goldie of St. James, daughters, Susan (Rich) Enger and Debbie (Frank) Schmillen of St. James and LuAnne Peterson of North Mankato. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sean Allen, Heather Allen, Melissa Wilson, Andrew Peterson, and Chelsea Schmillen and great-grandchildren, Michael, Addison, Aubrey, Jude and Milan. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and cousins, including special nephews and nieces and their families, Jill Hanson, Wayne (Gwen) Rossbach, Doug Rossbach and Nancy (Dave) Drummer.
