Elaine was born January 29, 1934 to Rhinehart and Clara (Siemglusz) Schuknecht on the farm in rural Jeffers. Because her mother died when Elaine was a young girl, she went to live with Clara's parents. When her father re-married to Esther Plueger, Elaine was reunited with the family and they moved to rural Odin. She graduated from St. James High School with the Class of '51. On February 16, 1952, Elaine Marilyn Schuknecht married Victor Fred Mausling at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. She helped Vic run his parents' farm in Watonwan County until they moved to Germany due to Vic's Army obligations. They lived there for three years. After returning, Elaine worked for 8 years for Southwest Community Action Council with Head Start and the rural meal delivery program. For over 20 years she worked in the Mountain Lake Public School kitchen after which she retired. She was an active member of the Butterfield VFW Auxiliary, and St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church for which she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school. Elaine enjoyed playing cards with neighbors, crocheting, gardening, and dancing. Elaine Mausling is survived by three daughters: Sheryl (James) Rupprecht, Holmen, WI, Sue (Mike Bergy) Bergerson, Mt. Lake, and Brenda (Steve) Pierson, Woodstock, sisters: Delores (Charles) Taylor, Auburn, WA, Betty (Allen) Edwards, Sedro Woolley, WA, and Janet (Rev. Stephen) Biegel, Geneva, IL, six grandchildren: Kyle (Mandy) Rupprecht, Liesl (Nate) Jordan, Nikki Kraus, Micah Rupprecht, Travis Pierson, and Nathan Pierson, and nine great-grandchildren.
