Elaine Keim

Elaine Keim, age 89, or rural Hanska, MN died Friday, July 10th, 2009 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. Elaine Keim was born on September 17, 1919 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the daughter of Walter Marie (Kreger) Sommerfeld. Elaine was baptized on October 6, 1919 and confirmed on April 9, 1933 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. She grew up and attended Sleepy Eye Public School and later worked at Pietrus Processing. She married Edmund W. Keim on January 25, 1939 in Sleepy Eye. After their marriage they lived in Sleepy Eye and then moved to a farm in rural Hanska where they farmed for many years. Elaine was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. She enjoyed her pets and gardening. Elaine is survived by her daughter-in-law, Margaret Keim of Maplewood, granddaughters, Julie Keim husband, Sean McPherson of Roseville, Laura Keim of Brooklyn Park, great-grandchildren, Jacob, Mark, Olivia and cousin, Myrtle Westergard of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edmund in 1989, son, James in 2004 and sister, Lucille. She also had one niece and one nephew.
