Elaine Anna Holland

Elaine Anna (Jacobson) Holland was born November 13, 1923 together with her twin sister Eleanor to Paul and Hannah Jacobson. Elaine graduated from St. James High School. She worked at several St. James business awaiting return if her fianc Gordon Holland from 3 years of military service during World War II . Elaine and Gordy were united in marriage on April 26, 1946 at First Lutheran Church in St. James. As a lifetime resident of the community Elaine was very well recognized and active in her church and many social and volunteer organizations. Her career included 12 years as cook at St. James Public Schools followed by 10 years as head cook at St. James Senior Center. She continued her employ as an aid with the school system Early Childhood Family Education program. Upon retirement she became intensely involved a local Hospice program and was awarded the Jefferson Good People Award for her dedication and care giving. In the last eight years she enjoyed living at Brandt Ridge Assisted Living. She was active in her church, enjoyed watching baseball and spending time with her family. Elaine passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato. She will be truly missed by her twin sister Eleanor Vandermoon, and nephew Troy Vandermoon of Mankato, MN daughter Becky (Tom) Zender of St. James and son Brad (Connie) Holland of Wapiti, WY, five grandchildren Jake (Brenda) Zender of Rosemount, MN, Ben (Laura Friberg) Zender of White Bear Lake, MN, Katy (Jake) Sturm of St. James, Jody (Greg) Jones of Joplin, MO and Kacy (Matt) Wood of Lees Summit, MO along with 15 great grandchildren and countless friends. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordy and sister Elsie Mae Lueck. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the medical staff, caregivers and pastors that shared in mom's journey.
