Elaine was born to Sena and William Raveling on March 5, 1920 in Vail Township, Wabasso, MN. Elaine graduated from Wabasso High School in 1937. She then went on to graduate from the Teacher's College in Lamberton one year later. Elaine taught in a one room country school in Brown County and later in Clements, grades one through six. Elaine cherished her time as a teacher and often shared those memories with her family. In addition to her work as a teacher, Elaine and Kenneth owned and operated a grocery store in Milroy during their early married life. They lived on and ran the family farm in Lucan, MN, worked together as owners and operators of the Hansen Department Store and Roller Skating Rink in Morgan, MN. Elaine was city clerk for Lamberton from 1976-1982. Elaine was a charter member of the Lamberton Area Historical Society holding office of secretary for four years. She was instrumental in work to restore the Lamberton Blacksmith Shop. Elaine was an active volunteer and member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Lamberton Reading Club and was Redwood County Federated Club President for two years. Elaine was awarded Redwood County Senior Citizen of the Year in 1998. She was an accomplished woman with a strong faith and was known for her kindness to others. Elaine is survived by son, Dennis (Christina), grandchildren, Susana and Andres Hansen, Kaija Prohofsky, great grandchildren, Adelaide and Callum Prohofsky, nieces, Sherri Patzer and Michelle Stassen and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Kenneth, son, Gary and sister Yvonne.
