Elaine Glienke, age 82, of St. James, died on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. Elaine Emma Wiederhoeft was born May 15, 1928 in South Branch Township, Watonwan County, MN, to parents Emil Paulina (Wojahn) Wiederhoeft. Elaine grew up in South Branch where she attended school at St. John's Lutheran School and later graduated from St. James High School. Elaine was united in marriage to Bernard Glienke on May 15, 1953 in South Branch. Elaine was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John's Lutheran Church in South Branch. She worked as a secretary at John Deere and then at ST Industries before going to work as a seamstress at St. James Cleaners. Elaine continued sewing after her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles and following the Minnesota Twins. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Ladies Aid at St. Paul Lutheran Church where she held various offices. Elaine is survived by her husband Bennie Glienke of St. James, 2 sons Jeff Glienke of Mankato, James Glienke of Faribault, 3 grandchildren Rachel Glienke of St. James, Briana Glienke of St. James, Shyanna Mosser of St. James, sisters Luverna Kopischke of Huntley, Myrna (Gary) Thomas of Blaine, sisters-in-law Eunice Wiederhoeft of St. James, Elfrieda Senf of St. James, brothers-in-law Glenn (Bonnie Borchert of Morristown, Ken (Audrey) Tate of Mankato and Werner Glienke of Fairmont. She is preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
