E.E. Arfmann

E.E. 'Bud' Arfmann, age 85 of Springfield, died Monday, January 19, 2009, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. E.E. 'Bud' Arfmann was born November 18, 1923, in Amiret, MN, the son of Earl and Harmina (Voss) Arfmann. He attended school in Marshall, entered the U.S. Navy in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. Bud was united in marriage to Verna Mord on November 22, 1942, in Sioux City, NE. The couple moved to Springfield in 1953 where Bud owned and operated Arfmann Petroleum and Chemicals until 1975. He then was in the tour business organizing, selling and driving tour bus. Bud was often the requested driver for tours and drove his last tour in 2002 to New York City. He was a longtime Springfield City Council member and served on the St. John Lutheran Home Board and as a volunteer for many years. Bud was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for several years and recently had joined the Springfield Assembly of God Church. He was a member of John Watson American Legion Post #257 and enjoyed working, walking, playing cards at 3:00 p.m. at Ruby's Cafe, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves. Bud also enjoyed working in his yard, building bird houses, and volunteering at St. John's Home. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, hiking with them in the woods, giving them rides in his Model T, and roasting hot dogs. E.E. 'Bud' Arfmann died Monday, January 19, 2009, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna at the age of 85 years. He is survived by wife Verna of Springfield; daughters- Randee Arfmann of Minneapolis, Jean Arfmann of New Ulm, Mary Arfmann of Owatonna, and Beth (Rick) Burris of Owatonna; grandchildren- Aaron (Katie) Martin of Rochester, Betsy Vanderpoel of Minneapolis, Kristi (Mike) Goslar of St. Paul, and Sam Vanderpoel of Owatonna; great-grandchildren- Hayden and Evie Martin, Mattheus and Simon Vanderpoel, and Lilia and Elijah Goslar; sisters- Vera Jueneman of Marshall, and Betty Norwood of Marshall; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Abel Vanderpoel; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.
