Edwin Ricke

Edwin James Ricke was born on August 27, 1926 in Redwood County. Edwin was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Morgan, MN. He attended country School District 109, known as Drusch School, and graduated from Morgan High School in 1944. On January 25, 1945 he entered the Navy and was discharged in January of 1946. Ed farmed in Three Lakes Township in Redwood County from 1950 until retiring in October of 1989. After retiring from farming, he moved to Morgan and in late August 2010 moved to Gil Mor Haven then moved to Gil Mor Manor in November 2010. Ed was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morgan, MN. He loved hunting pheasants, fishing, playing cards, reading, listening to old time music, watching the Minnesota Twins play and also watching Barb and Patty play ball. He was one of the top pool players while he was in the Navy. Edwin Ricke, 84, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 16, 2011 at Springfield Medical Center. Edwin is survived by his sister - Dorothy Leopold of Morgan; nieces - Barb Leopold of New Ulm, Patty (Dale) Trebesch of Morgan; great nephews - Jamie (Krista) Trebesch of Redwood Falls, Cory Trebesch of Morgan, Terry Trebesch of Morgan; great niece - Amy (Paul) Therkilsen of Sanborn; 9 great-great nieces and nephews; aunt - Dora (Drusch) Kamholz of Morgan and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents - Clara (Drusch) Ricke and Frank Ricke, Jr.; brother-in-law - Bruce Leopold and many aunts and uncles.
