Edward Scharmann

November 6, 1930 — July 8, 2006

Edward George Scharmann was born November 6, 1930, in Sanborn, MN, the son of George and Rosebud (Engel) Scharmann. He graduated from Sanborn High School in 1948, and entered the U.S. Navy in 1952. Ed served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in California, Hawaii and Japan before being honorably discharged in 1956. He was united in marriage to Verdella Wolf on May 10, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers. Ed was a lifetime resident of the Sanborn area where he farmed, owned 'The Roost' for 6 years, and drove truck for Marben Oil. He was a member of Colburn American Legion Post #286 and a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church. Ed enjoyed golf, driving around, and visiting with friends. He entered Valley View Manor in Lamberton in May of 2006. Edward George Scharmann died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at the Springfield Medical Center Hospital at the age of 75 years. Survivors include son- Kirby and wife Carla Scharmann of Lake Havasu City, AZ; grandsons- Christopher and Jacob Scharmann; sister- Lois Dammann of Sanborn; and brother- John and wife Marlene Scharmann of Victoria, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife- Verdella in 2002; and son- Barry George in infancy.
