Edward Baerg

Edward Baerg, the son of David and Agatha (Krahn) Baerg was born on December 2, 1928, on the family farm in Carson Township, Cottonwood County, MN. He graduated from the Mountain Lake High School in 1948, and continued his education with two years of Bible School at the Christian School in Mountain Lake. Ed was baptized upon confession of his faith on May 25, 1947, at the First Mennonite Church, and on June 6, 1954 he transfered his membership to the Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. While in high school he was a choir member and a letterman in track. On September 26, 1952, Ed was united in marriage to Marcella Lualla Heinrichs. They made their home and farmed on Ed's home place, where he raised Duroc hogs and Holstein cattle, sold Archer Oil products, and Renk seed. He was an Adult 4-H leader, recieved an outstanding young farmer award from the Mountain Lake J.C., and he showed Duroc hogs for 51 years at Cottonwood County Fair. He was active in his church on the Relief and Refreshment Committies and he sang in Men's Choir. Ed spent many years volunteering at the Cottonwood County Fair. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, music, traveling, fishing, growing crops and gardening, and doing small woodwork projects. Ed died on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at his home in Mountain Lake. Ed is survived by two sons, James (Becky) Baerg of Bingham Lake, MN and Leroy (Deb) Baerg of Windom, MN; a son-in-law, Harold (Lillian) Dick of Mountain Lake; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Baerg of Mountain Lake; a brother-in-law, Leo (Rosie) Heinrichs of St. James, MN; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marcella Sally Baerg on December 6, 2005; a daughter, Mary Lou Dick; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Baerg.
