Edna LaClara Peterson was born January 14, 1912, in Van Hook, ND, the daughter of Delbert and Rose (Detine) Olmstead. On October 29, 1928, she was united in marriage to Alexander Peterson in Minot, ND. The couple owned the Star Hatchery from 1936-1954, the Wayside Inn in Springfield from 1959-1960, then moved to a farm near Sanborn where they lived until retirement in 1976 and then moving to Springfield. Edna was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, and also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and Garden Club. She did a lot of volunteer service for the church and community and loved to cook and be creative. Edna L. Peterson died Monday, October 3, 2005, at the St. John Lutheran Home at the age of 93 years. Survivors include daughter- Joyce and husband John Helgeson of Windom; son- Jerry Peterson of St. Cloud; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 4 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Alex in 1993; son- Dennis in infancy; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.
