Edna Friesen was born December 2, 1919, in Jackson County, Minnesota, the daughter of John J.M. and Susie (Schultz) Dick. She grew up on a farm near Bingham Lake and was united in marriage to Jacob Friesen on February 26, 1942, in Mountain Lake. The couple lived in Butterfield for a short time and then moved to the Comfrey farm in 1953. They then moved to Darfur in 1968 and Edna moved back to Comfrey in 1992. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Darfur and enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing cards, being with friends, and was well known for her expertise in making buns. Edna especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Edna Friesen died Sunday, June 25, 2006, at the Springfield Medical Center Hospital at the age of 86 years. Survivors include daughter- Nancy and husband Ron Jeske of Melrose, MN; son- Gene Friesen of Comfrey; grandchildren- Alyssa Rosenberger, Amber Middendorf, Adrea Jeske, Jeremy Friesen, and Lindsay Friesen; great-grandchildren- Madison and Isaac Rosenberger, and Jacob Middendorf; brothers- David Dick of Butterfield, and Abe Dick of California; and sisters- Mary Dalke and Susie Toews of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Jacob in 1976; brothers- Jack, Fred, Henry, Peter, Jacob and William; and sisters- Tina and Sara.
