When she was 10 her family moved to a farm near Delft, MN, of which Edna had many fond memories that she loved to share. Edna attended a country school near the farm and later attended Bingham Lake School, then Mt. Lake HS from which she graduated. Edna married her sweetheart Walter Mike' Freitag on July 20, 1948. They had four children together who were prolific and gave them many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 1961 Mike and Edna moved to a farm on the outskirts of Mt. Lake where they farmed and started the family construction business. After Mike's passing Edna moved to Parkwood Place in Mt. Lake and then in 2017, she moved to the Good Samaritan Village. Edna loved the Lord and followed in her Grandma Loewen's footsteps covering her family in daily prayer. As a prayer warrior she touched many lives with her relentless yet gentle offers of prayer. She was an avid reader and tells the story of when she was young her sisters, frustrated with her nose in a book, took her book away and threw it down the outhouse pit. Edna had an artistic flair for painting and quilting of which has been passed on to several of her heirs. She was a wonderful mom and grandma and especially loved the little ones in the family and would smile ear to ear whenever she saw them. Edna had a gracious spirit and felt it was her God ordained work to touch the lives of those around her by offering a wave, smile or pat on the shoulder. She is survived by her "Marvelous Menken" family; Lorraine (Harris) Franz, Ruth Menken, Doris (Hank) Rosenow, Norman (Lorna) Menken, Jerry (Ruthie) Menken, Marvin (Cindie) Menken and many nieces and nephews.
