Edna Gretina Aden was born November 30, 1919 at Pocahontas, Iowa, the daughter of John and Margaretha (Menssen) Aden. She grew up in Southern Minnesota and graduated from St. James High School. Edna cooked at several area restaurants before getting married. On August 24, 1944, she was united in marriage to Oliver Anderson in St. James. The couple made their home on the farm northwest of town where she raised her family. Edna was active alter guild and ladies aide at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and cooked at the Church school. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, baking, canning with her sisters, and listening to music. Edna especially enjoyed her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends. Edna Anderson, age 88, of St. James, died on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers and a great-granddaughter. She is survived by sons Lee (Cathey) Anderson of Norfolk, VA, Dale L. (Deborah) Anderson of St. James, daughter Faye (Mike) Kennedy of Delano, brothers Raymond Aden of CA and John (Sandra) Aden of St. James and sister Wyona (Merk) Yackel of St. James, grandchildren Kimberly, Dawn, Heidi, Benjamin, Lindsey, Ryan, Darren, Nathan, Betsy, great-grandchildren Catie, Zachary, Lynda, Gary, Jack, Annika, Lydia, Presley, great-great-grandson Elyjshia, step-grandchildren Troy, Sarah, Darrick, Leanne, step-greatgrandchildren Maggie Jackie.
