Duane Allen Stevensen

Duane Allen Stevensen age 80, of Madelia, MN passed away on March 10, 2020 at the Madelia Community Hospital from his battle with lung cancer, myelodyplastic syndrome and COPD. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death. Duane was born on February 28, 1940 to Jacob and Arlene Stevensen in Madelia, MN. He grew up on a farm near Madelia with his four siblings. He attended country school and graduated from Madelia High School in 1958. On June 29, 1958, he married the love of his life, Nancy Rice. Together, they raised two sons and two daughters. Duane had a love for farming and he farmed his entire life. Along with farming, he worked numerous jobs, most recently he worked as a bus driver for the Madelia Bus Service, a job that he loved. He was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Madelia where he belonged to the Silver Bands Group and served as an Elder. He also was a longtime member of the Madelia Snowhawks snowmobile club. Duane will be remembered for his love of life, sense of humor and his kind, helpful and giving nature. Duane cherished his family, he enjoyed every minute he spent with his grandkids. He loved watching his grandkids' activities, fishing, camping and his Farmall tractors. Duane is survived by his children, daughters, Kristi (Vince) Forstner, Kimberly Cooling (Brandon) all of Madelia, Chuck (Alyssa) Stevensen of St. James, MN; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings, Bob Stevensen, Barb (Jim) Sorenson and Dave (Mary) Stevensen all of Madelia. In heaven, he will join his wife of 61 years, Nancy Stevensen; son, Brad Stevensen; grandsons, Alex Cooling and Bryon Forstner; parents Jacob and Arlene Stevensen and brother, Ron Stevensen.
