Duane P. Domeier, 69, of Red Wing, MN died on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Region's Hospital in St. Paul, MN Duane Philip Domeier was born October 12th, 1940 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; son of Edwin and Angeline (Reinhart) Domeier. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1958 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy shortly after graduation. Duane married Marian Elizabeth Piotter on April 6th, 1962 in Memphis, Tennessee. A career service man, Duane served 20 years in the U.S. Navy before retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer (Aviation Anti-Submarine Warfare Technician) in 1977. Duane's awards and citations while in the Navy included the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After his retirement from the Navy, Duane worked for a year at Red Wing Vocational Technical Institute. Duane then worked at Lockheed Martin in Eagan, Minnesota as a Computer Hardware Instructor until his retirement in the fall 1998. He had a passion for nature and the outdoors which included hiking, bird watching, nature photography, and canoeing. In addition, Duane campaigned for Life Source and Transplant Speakers International; both advocate organizations for organ and tissue donation. Duane is survived by his wife Marian of Red Wing; his children, Debra of Rockford, Ohio, Michelle and husband Troy Storm of Woodbury, Maria of St. Paul, Anthony and wife Carmensa of Vicenza, Italy, Matthew and wife Wendy of Batavia, Illinois, Michael and wife Cristina of Seattle Washington, and Marcus of Red Wing; six grandchildren, Anthony, Alejandra, Ethan, Elisabeth, David, and Katherine; brothers, David and wife Marge of Troy, Missouri, Henry and wife Diane of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Thomas of Palmer, Alaska, John and wife Wanda of St. Clair, Daniel and wife Jane of Wasilla, Alaska; and his sister Rita Waibel and her husband Charles of New Ulm. Duane was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Angeline, and his sister Kristina.
