Douglas Michael Stoneberg "Stoney" was born June 18, 1958, in Sleepy Eye, MN, to Dennis and Phyllis (Schroepfer) Stoneberg. He was Baptized and Confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Doug graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School in 1976. Doug was a truck driver and a mechanic. He worked for Peterson Well Drilling, Reddemann Trucking, Stimpert Enterprises, and Lyle Heiderscheidt Trucking. He enjoyed his years as an over-the-road trucker, driving dump trucks and working on heavy equipment. Doug took pleasure in his work and was rarely absent. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing snowmobiles with friends from Sleepy Eye. Doug loved animals (especially Sophie), being outdoors, and fishing. In recent years, Doug enjoyed spending time in the gazebo and fixing up Jan's yard with lights, flags and flowers. After a 3-year battle against lymphoma, Douglas passed away peacefully at the age of 63 on July 5, 2021, at the Sleepy Eye Hospital. Doug is survived by his fiance, Janice Severson, Springfield; his mother, Phyllis Stoneberg, Sleepy Eye; his sisters, Sandy (Greg) Guhlke, Mankato, Denise Helget, Sleepy Eye, and Julie (Dave) Jacobson, Sleepy Eye; and his brother, Mark (Faye) Stoneberg, Redwood Falls; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Stoneberg, in 1984; and by his grandparents. An independent, stubborn and private person, Douglas was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Blessed be his memory.
