Douglas August Kosel was born January 19, 1948 in Springfield, the son of Walter and Agnes (Nickel) Kosel. He attended and graduated from Jeffers High School. In 1967 Doug entered the US Army and served his country in Viet Nam where Doug received two Purple Hearts. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, Doug returned to Jeffers and ran the Co-op. He married Glenda Mattenson and the couple had two children. Doug worked for Schulz Construction until 1987 and then worked for Hodgman Construction, Gramdstad's and Herb Construction. He married Betty Lou Fromm in April of 1983 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. Doug was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed playing in a band. Doug died on Monday, January 16, 2006 at his home in Sanborn, MN at the age of 57 years. He is survived by his wife - Betty Lou of Sanborn; son - Chad and his wife Michele of Storden; 3 grandchildren - Michael, Jordan, and Loraya; brothers - Robert Kosel of Rodgers and Dean Kosel of Jeffers; and many friends, aunts, and uncles. He is preceded in death by his father - Walter and son - Kurt in infancy.
