Dorothy Westerlund

Dorothy Westerlund was born on August 20, 1912 near Halfa, IA, the daughter of George and Bertha (Smith) Herzberg. In 1919 they moved to North Dakota and in 1929 they moved to the Lamberton area. Dorothy graduated from Lamberton High School in 1930. She married Oscar Westerlund December 22, 1932 in Redwood Falls. They had four children - Vivian, Duane, Janice, and Dean. In 1952 the family moved to Fulda where they lived for 5 years. They moved back to Lamberton where they owned and operated the Coffee Shop from 1959 to 1962. Oscar also kept busy with police work in Lamberton, Walnut Grove, Tracy, and Fulda and also worked for G.J. Fillenworth until retiring in 1975. Dorothy kept busy with doing wall papering work all over the area. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lamberton and the Royal Neighbors of America. Dorothy died on Sunday, June 25, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN at the age of 93 years. She is survived by her daughter - Vivian MaKarrall of St. Cloud, MN; sons - Duane (Marilyn) Westerlund of San Antonio, TX and Dean (Brone) Westerlund of Humbolt, IA; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 21 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband - Oscar in 1990; a sister - Doris Fast; a brother - Dale; a daughter - Janice in 1999; granddaughter - Dawn Delgado; and a great granddaughter - Brittany Wilde in 2001.
