Dorothy Thiessen

Dorothy was born on May 9, 1921 to Henry H. and Anna (Wall) Dick at Dallas, OR. At a very young age, she moved with her family to Lester, MT. At the age of twelve she was baptized. She graduated from high school in Dallas, OR. After graduation she went on to nurse's school in Portland, OR. After receiving her nurse's degree, Dorothy attended Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, NE one year for bible training. Dorothy moved with her parents to Mountain Lake in the mid 1940's. While living in Mountain Lake she met John T. Thiessen. They got married May 31, 1949 at Cornerstone Bible Church in Mountain Lake. After their marriage Dorothy was a full time housewife, mother, and devoted wife whom also worked part time at the hospital. She would always be at her husbands' side helping him with his many jobs around town. Dorothy was very active in the Ladies Mission Society group and teaching Sunday school. She had many interests including quilting, gardening, canning, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, doing jigsaw puzzles, all sorts of games, and traveling with her husband. Dorothy is survived by her son, Ron (Dayle) Thiessen of Chadron, NE; daughter Elizabeth (Robert) Birkey of Omaha, NE; and two grandchildren: Brenda Thiessen of Kansas City, MO and Marc Birkey of Omaha, NE. Other survivors include her two sisters; Anna Jantzen of Lancaster, CA and Sara Hall of Glendale, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband John T.; grandson David Thiessen; daughter-in-law Bonnie Thiessen; her parents; one brother, one sister, two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
