Dorothy Stelzer

Dorothy Mae Stelzer was born February 4, 1929, in Mountain Lake, MN, the daughter of James and Myrtle (Peterson) Willaby. She attended Cottonwood County School #61 in Delton Township and graduated from Comfrey High School in 1948. Dorothy was united in marriage to Cyril Stelzer on November 15, 1952, and the couple made their home on the family farm, then later moved to Comfrey. Dorothy's last years were spent at Divine Providence Community Home where she enjoyed all of the activities especially bingo, balloon volleyball, and coloring beautiful pictures. She always took part in the special programs and truly enjoyed the music groups. Dorothy was an encouragement to the other residents. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the CCW. Dorothy enjoyed growing plants, gardening, embroidery, cooking, and baking. She also enjoyed camping, watching TV, and listening to all types of music. Dorothy Mae Stelzer died Saturday, December 23, 2006, at Divine Providence Community Home at the age of 77 years. Survivors include daughters- Cyrilla and husband Marvin Wall of Comfrey, Patricia Stelzer of Morgan, and Victoria and husband James Murphy of Mankato; sons- David Stelzer of Danvers, MN, and Jeffrey and wife Michelle Stelzer of Morgan; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers- Arnold and wife Leona Willaby of Mountain Lake, and Leo and wife Melva Willaby of Fort Mill, SC; sisters- Irene and husband Leland Bochman of Mountain Lake, Arlene Schultz of Sleepy Eye, Myrtle and husband James Vrieze of Eyota, MN, and Phyllis and husband John Ellenson of Minneapolis; sister-in-law- Shirley and husband Joe Mathiowetz of Sleepy Eye; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Cyril in 1989; daughter- Darlene in 1982; and son- Valerious in 1992.
