Dorothy Sorensen

Dorothy Lucille Sorensen was born on January 17, 1918 south of Sleepy Eye, MN, the daughter of Nicholas C. Elizabeth (Upson) Bock. She worked at Mathiowetz Construction in the cafe and also at a cafe in Olivia, MN. Dorothy married Harvey T. Sorensen on June 3, 1938 at Danish Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage, she worked at Del Monte as a seasonal worker for 30 years; in the summer packing peas and sweet corn for a number of years. After her children were out of school and away from home, she worked as a regular employee for 9 years for the warehouse as the sanitation-janitorial person and reconditioning of cases of canned foods. At that time she retired to again help on the farm place and the shop as well. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Dorothy enjoyed fishing, and stained glass work in excellence. She lived at Ross Park until June when she moved to the Sleepy Eye Care Center. 90 year old Dorothy Sorensen of Sleepy Eye, MN died Friday, January 18, 2008 at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center. She is survived by her sons, Clifford (Marlys) Sorensen of Sleepy Eye, Russell (Gail) Sorensen of Sleepy Eye, daughter, Sharon (Richard) Bunker of Pequot Lakes, MN, 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, brother, Lloyd (Lena) Bock of Springfield, sister, Rosella Deterling of Raymond, MN and sister-in-law, Connie (Dick) Keough of Apple Valley, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harvey, brothers, Robert (Mildred) Bock, John Bock, sister, Pearl Hornick and great great grandson, Logynn Klein Torres.
