Dorothy Nachreiner

Dorothy Marie Nachreiner was born in Vesta to Alfred and Emma (Hengel) Blankenhagen on June 3, 1933. She went to high school at Sanborn and graduated in 1951. She worked as a switchboard operator prior to her marriage to Denis Milton Nachreiner on June 2, 1953. Together they farmed southeast of Springfield and raised five children. Dorothy enjoyed baking, sewing, polka music, and puzzle books. Dorothy died on June 4, 2021, at Madonna Towers in Rochester at the age of 88. She is survived by daughters Diane Vogt of Albert Lea, Denise Nachreiner of Rochester, Doreen (David) Vogel of Springfield; son Dana (Lisa) Nachreiner of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter Darla (Craig) Wendt of Hayfield; sister Eleanor (Jack) DeWitt of Friendsville, MD; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Denis, sister Jeanette Risting, and brother Donald (Linda) Blankenhagen, and brother-in-law Carl "Jack" DeWitt. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Madonna Towers Memory Care Unit and Mayo Clinic Hospice in Rochester. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, or Madonna Towers in Rochester.
