Dorothy Loewen, the daughter of John F. and Elizabeth (Dick) Loewen was born on the family farm SW of Mountain Lake, MN on May 24, 1920. She received her education at a country school near her home, the Mountain Lake High School, the German Bible School in Mountain Lake, and she graduated from Northwestern College in Minneapolis, MN. Dorothy was baptized upon confession of her Faith and became a member of the First Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. She taught Bible school in Oklahoma, and was a nursing aid at the Masonic Home in the Twin Cities area. Following her retirement in 1985 she returned to Mountain Lake where she attended the Community Bible Church. Dorothy enjoyed traveling and went to the Holy Land twice, she supported many Missions, kept up with current events, and loved cats. She had a loving heart and was a strong Christian. Dorothy died on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Society in Windom, MN. Dorothy is survived by a brother, Ervin Loewen and his wife Frances of Mountain Lake; and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Verna Fast, Elsie Klassen, Evelyn Klassen and Arlene Loewen.
