Dorothy Kringle

Dorothy Kringle, age 92, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

A memorial service will be held at the Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake, Minnesota on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 2:00 pm with visitation at 1:00 pm. Reception and graveside service to follow at the Mountain Lake Cemetery.

Dorothy Anne Kringle was born on March 26, 1934, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Ralph and Ella King and grew up in a musically gifted and God-honoring family. At a young age, Dorothy took piano and violin lessons, being inspired by her mother who was an accomplished violinist. Church community played an important role in Dorothy’s life from an early age and was the center of life for the King family. Her parents ensured that they lived only a few blocks away from the Assembly of God Church on Lake Street. At age 8 during a church service, she made a commitment to follow Jesus Christ as her Savior. She loved being involved in church activities.

Dorothy’s love for God and her parents’ tender hearts toward Christian ministry influenced her desire to become a pastor’s wife. While attending North Central Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota, she met Lester Kringle, who was preparing to become a pastor. They were married on November 24, 1954.

Dorothy wore many hats during her 60 years of being a pastor’s wife in 10 churches from Montana to the Midwest to Maine. Dorothy skillfully played the piano, served as church secretary, was involved in children’s and women’s ministries, and joyfully opened her home to visiting missionaries, speakers and church families. Yet, she still found time to be a caring mom to the five Kringle children.

During these past seven years at The Lodge and Good Samaritan facility in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, she and Lester were able to lead various music worship times with the fellow residents.

Throughout her years, Dorothy knew that God’s Word was a blessing and encouraged her children, piano students, and Sunday School students to “hide God’s word in [their] hearts” (Psalm 119:11) by memorizing Bible verses. She was also a staunch prayer advocate for her family. Her legacy truly has been and will continue to be that of a “good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23).

Dorothy was a devoted pastor’s wife and mother up until the Lord called her home!

Dorothy was preceded in death and now united with her parents; brothers, William King and James King; stillborn son; and preborn great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Lester Kringle of Mountain Lake, MN; sister-in-Law, Evelyn King of Princeton, MN; son, Daniel (Jean) Kringle of Faribault; grandchildren, Laura Kringle, Amy (Dwight) Shelly, and Austin Kringle; daughter, Cheri (Bill) Strom of Mountain Lake; grandchildren, Maryn (Nate) Carpenter and Matt (Krista) Strom; son, John (Laura) Kringle of Brunswick, NE; grandchildren, Sarah Kringle, Heather (Caleb) Doerr, Mary (Adam) Prins, and Nathan (Marivic) Kringle; daughter, Wendy (Alan) Hirsch of Mountain Lake; grandchildren, Mitchell (Sheng Thao) Hirsch, Andrew (Katelyn) Hirsch, and Samuel Hirsch; son, Thomas (Kim) Kringle of Gobles, MI; and grandchildren, Aleah (Jon) Hayes, Jack (Sophie) Kringle, Gabrianna Kringle, and Reagan Kringle. Dorothy is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
