Dorothy Kremmin

July 11, 1932 — August 5, 2008

Dorothy Louise Jass was born on July 11, 1932 to Esther (Freitag) and Carl O. Jass at the old Bethel Hospital in Mt. Lake. She was baptized into the Lord's family on July 29, 1932 at her home in Lakeside Township west of Mt. Lake. Dorothy attended country school at District 66 through the eighth grade and then transferred to Mt. Lake Public school where she graduated on June 1, 1949. She was confirmed in her faith at Trinity Lutheran Church on April 14, 1946. After graduation, Dorothy worked at Bill's Caf and candled eggs at Worthmore Ice Cream Store. On May 21, 1952 she was united in marriage to Otto Kremmin, Jr. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Lake and they immediately left for Kentucky where Otto was stationed for the Army. When Otto was sent overseas to Germany, Dorothy returned home to live with her parents until he returned home. After Otto's return they lived on several farms in the Mt. Lake and Bingham Lake area until they moved into Mt. Lake in 1991. Over the years their home was filled with laughter and commotion with seven sons and three part-time daughters. Nieces, Dixie Sogge, Jolene and Kristal Jass each made their home temporarily with Otto and Dorothy after the loss of their mother's. Dorothy was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Lake where she served on the LWML, as Sunday School and Bible school teacher, and a member of the choir. She was also a member of the Friendship Quilter's Club. After raising most of her family she went to work at Deuber's Department Store for 17 years and when that store closed she went to work for Rich's Grocery Store that later became Maynard's Foods. Dorothy's greatest love was her family and especially her 19 beloved grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She loved taking pictures, quilting, beating Otto at Cribbage, cooking, baking and laughing. She loved life and everyone around her. Dorothy is survived by her husband Otto and seven sons and their families. Jim and Deb, Katie and Mari; Ron and MarySue, Jennifer and Wayne Kinneman and family, Sarah and Richard Huffman and family, John Michael and Logan; Tom and Char, Travis, Tricia and Kelsey; Randy and LuAnn, Brian, Taylor and Amber; Doug and Kim, Doug and Tabitha, Joshua and Hollie; Dean and Amy, Justin and Haylee; Jason and Heather, Kade and Kolby.
