Dorothy Knutson

July 18, 1919 — September 2, 2012

Dorothy Marie Hubert Knutson, age 93, of North Mankato and formerly of Lamberton died on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at her home in North Mankato. She was born on July 18, 1919 on a farm south of Lamberton, the daughter of Ernest and Lillian Hubert. She grew up on several farms near Lamberton. In 1937 she graduated from Lamberton High School. After graduation she attended the U of M, St. Paul Campus and practiced as an extension agent in Benton County. Dorothy worked in the Ammunitions Department as an inspector in New Brighton, MN. On August 12, 1944, she was united in marriage to Everett Knutson in Raymond, MN. They then moved to Bremerton, WA where he worked in the Navy Shipyards. They moved back to Minnesota and in 1947 they opened Knutson Plumbing, Heating and Electrical Company in Lamberton. Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lamberton where she taught Sunday School, was on the church board, and a member of the church circle. Dorothy enjoyed volunteering with the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts and was a member of an extension group, garden club, and bowling league. She was an avid seamstress and worked at Kluegel''s Department Store and Funeral Home for 25 years. She is survived by her twin daughters - Karen (Randy) Caldwell of N. Mankato, Joyce (John) Dickerman of Mankato and Barbara Sandmann Knutson of St. Peter and Pamela Puleston of St. Peter; a daughter-in-law - Lucretia Knutson of Irvine, CA; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law - Colleen Hubert of AZ, Betty Knutson of UT, and Lucile (Byron) Edwards of MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband - Everett; a son - Gary; sister - Wilma; brothers - Howard and Burton; and brothers-in-law - Marvin (Bonnie) Knutson and Kenneth Knutson.
