Dorothy Junker

December 18, 1914 — February 28, 2010

Dorothy Hulzebos was born on December 18, 1914 in Selma Township, Cottonwood County, near Mountain Lake, MN to Menno Sr. and Minnie (Lamfers) Hulzebos. She received her education at District #69 country school. On February 25, 1935, Dorothy was united in marriage to Jacob G. Falk. They made their home and farmed together in Midway Township, Cottonwood County, adjacent to Jacob's parents' homestead. In the early 1960's they moved in to Mountain Lake, and Jacob died on August 30, 1963. Dorothy continued to make her home in Mountain Lake and worked at the Mountain Lake Hospital. On December 30, 1968, Dorothy was united in marriage to Rudolph H. Junker at the First Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake, and they continued to make their home in Mountain Lake. Dorothy loved her Lord and was very family oriented. She was a fun loving hard worker who raised much of the family's food. She was gifted in making and sharing many Mennonite dishes and treats with her family and friends. She also raised flowers and African violets, quilted, embroidered dish towels and pillow cases, and braided rugs. Dorothy enjoyed many fishing trips with Rudy over the years. Dorothy died on Sunday morning, February 28, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jacob G. Falk; son-in-law, Edward Harder; step-daughter-in-law, Sonja Junker; 4 sisters, Elizabeth Courts, Hannah Foth, Mary Larson and Hattie Peters; and 2 brothers, Menno Hulzebos Jr. and John Hulzebos. She is survived by her husband, Rudolph Junker of Mountain Lake; 3 children, Norman (Vickie) Falk of North Branch, MN, Walter (Janice) Falk of Windom, MN, and Donna Harder of Stillwater, MN; 4 step-children, Elvin Junker of Mankato, MN, Ralph (JoAnn) Junker of Butterfield, MN, Glen (JoAnne) Junker of St. James, MN, and Iona (James) Hovdet of Butterfield; 27 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
