There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30pm Friday at the funeral home. Dorothy Nehls grew up in New Ulm, the youngest of three children of John and Amanda (Schlumpberger) Nehls. After high school she worked in the Woolworth store in New Ulm. She met Martin Ibberson and they were married on September 16th, 1940 in New Ulm. They moved to a farm north of Sleepy Eye, where they lived and raised three sons, Steven, Allan and Jerold. After Martin's death, Dorothy moved to Lake Villa Marie. Two years ago she moved to Divine Providence Community Home. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing quilting and rug making at Divine. She is survived by children; Steven of Sleepy Eye, Allan (Carol) of Morgan and Jerold (Karen) of Ellendale, five grandchildren; Jeremy (Cari) of Omaha, NE, Stephanie Scofield of New Prague, Cory (fiance Tashiana Ibberson) of Pierz, Jackie (Tom) Engelbrecht of Roscoe IL , Paul (fianc Amanda Petersen) of Mankato and foreign exchange granddaughter Mira Mascarin of Mons, Belgium, four great grandchildren; Emily, Levi, Jorja and Jonas. Dorothy is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband Martin, infant son David, brothers Norman and Elmer, sister's-in-law; Dorothy Nehls, Aggie Ibberson, Sharon Ibberson and Angie Ibberson and brother's-in-law; Sherman Ibberson and Dale Remus.
