Dorothy Elg

June 9, 1916 — January 24, 2005

Dorothy Helen Hanson was born on June 9th, 1916 in Oaks, ND the daughter of Emil Hulda (Erlandson) Hanson. She grew up and attended school in Oaks, graduating from high school in 1934. She moved to Minneapolis and worked at Sears until her marriage to Clifford Sylvester Elg on February 23, 1941 in Minneapolis. The couple lived and farmed in Selma Township until moving to St. James. Dorothy was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Comfrey, her involvments included the Ladies Aid, Womens Missionary Society and Sunday School teacher. She was also a 4-H leader for several years. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, her family and going on church retreat camps with her husband. Survivors include, her daughter, Karen husband Melvin Hamman of Worthington, her son, Reuben wife Terri Elg of Apple Valley, six granchildren, Dennis Hamman, Dawn Naab, Denise Peterson Dorothy Hamman, and Tanya Rogers Ryan Elg, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, three sisters, Mildred Hanson, Evelyn husband Orville Warner and Gladys Kittelson, two sisters-in-law, Roselyn Donner Joyce Elg and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Clifford.
