Dorothy Marie Burgeson

Dorothy Marie Pauley was born in rural Madelia on October 28, 1917 to George and MaryAnn (Lodes) Pauley. She grew up in the Madelia area and attended country school and St. Mary's Catholic School. She married Vernon Burgeson in 1937 and the couple had a son, Meryl Burgeson. The family resided on a farm near Madelia. As a wife and mother on the farm, Dorothy worked very hard. She was very organized and was out of bed early each day doing chores and making breakfast for her family. She was an excellent cook, whose apple pie, biscuits and strawberry jam are remembered fondly by her family and friends. She spent much of her time gardening, canning, quilting and knitting. Dorothy Marie (Pauley) Burgeson age 100, of Madelia, MN died on September 16, 2018, at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. Dorothy is survived by her son, Meryl Burgeson of Madelia; granddaughter, Crissy Gugler of San Jose, CA; step-grandchildren, Donald Scow, Pamela Scow, Michael Burt, and sister-in-law, Vida Larkin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon in 1984; sister, Alvina Erickson; parents; and a stillborn son.
