Dorathea Olson

Dorathea Anni Olson, the daughter of Emil P.C. and Lydia (Heffele) Hildebrandt, was born on February 27, 1936, in Mountain Lake, MN. She was baptized on April 5, 1936 and confirmed on April 2, 1950 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. She graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1954.Dorathea and Duane Maynard Olson were united in marriage on June 16, 1957 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. They were partners in farming near Mountain Lake until Duane's death in 1999. Dorathea has formed countless friendships with people in and around Mountain Lake. She often reminisced about people and friendships from her days of working at the hotel and Co-op. She also loved to bowl and looked forward to bowling league. Dorathea was active and involved with Trinity Lutheran Church throughout her life. The most important part of her life was family. Dorathea loved family gatherings, and will forever be remembered for her ability to prepare food for a large group, especially her Potato Salad. Her Godchildren, Derek, Amber, Greg, Keith, Alison and Kelly, were a special part of her family. Dorathea passed away Friday, July 1, 2005, in the early morning at her rural home south of Mountain Lake. Dorathea is survived by her four sons and their families, Douglas and wife Linda Olson and their daughter Brandi of Dumont, MN, Daryl and wife Janie Olson and their children Derek and Amber of Brandon, SD, and Brian Johnson and his daughter Megan of Mason City, IA, Deland and wife Deborah Olson and their children Daniel, Jacob, Jillian and Genevieve of Savage, MN; Dean and wife Julie Olson and their children Justine and Marc of River Falls, WI; four sisters, Emma and husband Ben Amann of Rochester, MN,Magareta and husband Walter Oeltjenbruns of Mountain Lake, MN, Kathy and husband Elwood Svalland of Butterfield, MN, and Carolyn Chester of Windom, MN; one brother, Duane Hildebrandt of North Mankato, MN; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Jean Hermanson and Diana Hildebrandt; and one brother, LeRoy Hildebrandt.
