Donna Marie Kachelmeier

Donna Marie Kachelmeier was born on July 20, 1929 in New Ulm, MN, the daughter of John & Marie (Weiss) Macho. Donna married John Kachelmeier on November 4, 1948 at Holy Trinity Cathedral in New Ulm. They made their home and farmed in rural Sleepy Eye until 1977. John preceded her in death on December 31, 1978 and Donna remained on the farm her entire life. She loved working as a cashier at Schutz Family Foods as well as being a part of their "family". She retired in April of 2014. Donna was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, VFW Auxiliary, Bowling League, Card Club, Cancer Survivor Mentor and volunteered at Nex-Tu-Nu-II. She loved her family and cooking and baking for them and was famous for her caramels and cookie bars which she shared with all. Some of her favorite hobbies were flower gardening, painting kitchen towels and playing cards. She is survived by her children, Diane Johnson of Baxter, MN, John (Cheryl) Kachelmeier of Silver Lake, MN, Tom (Bernadette) Kachelmeier of Sleepy Eye, Janice (Richard) Hagen of Morris, MN, 6 grandchildren, Vicki Kachelmeier, John Kachelmeier, Heather Kachelmeier-Rhinehart, Erin Warmbold, Amy Hagen, Lee Kachelmeier, 7 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, sister, JoAnn (Les) Rose of New Ulm, brother-in-law, Aloysius "Ollie" Kachelmeier of Sleepy Eye, sister-in-law, Elaine Kachelmeier of Gibbon, her cat Rainy and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, son-in-law, Charles Johnson and grandson, Eric Hagen.
