Donald Steege

Donald William Steege, age 86, of Tempe, AZ, died on October 22, 2011, at Hospice of the Valley, Tempe, AZ. Donald was born April 22, 1925, to William and Leah (Runge) Steege in Rosendale Township, Watonwan County, Minnesota. He was raised in Rosendale Township where he attended school at District 65 for 8 years and St. James High School. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in St. James. On December 6, 1946, he married Harriet Olson, daughter of Ernest and Ellen (Nelson) Olson at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church. He farmed for 14 years in Rosendale Township until moving to Scottsdale, AZ, in 1961, where he lived for 8 years. He moved to Tempe, AZ, in 1969, where's lived until his death. He worked for building contractors and the Scottsdale School District unitl his retirement in 1987. He attended King of Glory Lutheran Church in Tempe, where he enjoyed doing volunteer work. His hobbies included wood crafts, fishing, gardening, and traveling. Donald is survived by his wife Harriet, daughter Joyce Trickel, son Bruce and his wife Marilyn, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, granddaughter, 2 sisters and a brother. Memorials may be sent to King of Glory Lutheran Church, Ruud Memorial Fund,2085 E.
