Donald Saffert

Donald 'Donnie' Francis Saffert was born November 11, 1939 in Springfield, MN, the son of George and Edith (Kastner) Saffert. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Hauan on March 3, 1962 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church. They moved to the farm in 1973 where Donnie enjoyed spending time as a hobby farmer. He worked for Vigorena - Hubbard Milling for 35 years before retiring in 2001. Donnie was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church and enjoyed wood-working and gardening, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Donnie's determination and sense of ethics will be forever remembered. Donald 'Donnie' Saffert died Friday, November 12, 2004 at his daughter's home in Sanborn at the age of 65 years. Survivors include daughters- Shelli and husband John Wilson of Cottage Grove, Lana and husband Dan Domeier of Springfield, and Connie and husband Dave Prechel of Sanborn; son- Curt and wife Melanie Saffert of Springfield; 6 grandchildren; sisters- Loretta and husband Clarence Wenisch, Sr. of Springfield, Marie Lang of Springfield, and Adeline and husband Lawrence Roiger of Fairfax; and brothers- Gilbert and wife Doris Saffert of Long Prairie, and Dennis and wife Florence Saffert of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents- George and Edith Saffert; and brothers- Greg and Edwin 'Speedy' Saffert.
