Donald Oliver Anderson

June 30, 1936 — January 13, 2019

Donald O. Anderson passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center at the age of 82. Don was born on June 30, 1936 in Windom, MN to Oliver and Viola (Schuknecht) Anderson. He grew up and attended school in Storden, MN and was raised by his grandparents, Oscar and Edith Anderson. On June 2, 1956 he married Sandra Dagner in Lamberton, MN. They celebrated 62 years of marriage and were blessed with five children. He is survived by his wife Sandra of Sleepy Eye; daughters Diane (Kevin) Hardin, Lori (Bob) Helget, Nancy (Al) Windschitl of Sleepy Eye, and Cathy (Jeff) Olson of New Ulm; son Paul (Julie) Anderson of Sleepy Eye; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; siblings, Debbie (Rocky) Wright, Arbie (Dennis) Peters, Arlin (Ilene) Engler and Chuck Engler; brothers-in law Karl (Judy) Dagner and Arne (Carol) Dagner; and sisters-in-law, Dorla Dagner, Mary Dagner and Pam Dagner. Don worked for Kraft Foods in New Ulm for over 30 years. Family was the most important thing in his life and he loved spending time with his family and was so proud of his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed taking the grandkids fishing and attending all of their sporting activities. He was a baseball coach and a member of the Sleepy Eye Baseball Association for several years and was a volunteer for the Lets Go Fishing program in Sleepy Eye. While his memory faded over the last several years, his sense of family did not diminish and he always had a smile when family and friends would visit. He especially loved visits from the young great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends; blessed be his memory. The family requests that memorials be made to the Sleepy Eye Care Center-Heritage Lane, Trinity Lutheran Church, Allina Hospice or the donors choice.
