Donald 'Pete' Meyer

August 23, 1929 — June 14, 2011

Donald F. Pete Meyer was born on August 23, 1929 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the son of Albert Selma (Johnson) Meyer. He worked for Meyers Road Construction with his Dad and served in the Army at Ft. Riley, KS from December of 1948 until November 1951 as a small arms repairman. He married Catherine Zuhlsdorf on September 28, 1950 in New Ulm, MN. Don worked for MN DOT from 1951-1989, was Windom District Foreman and Crookston District Supervisor. He was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge and Shriners. Don fished at Lake of the Woods for 17 years and enjoyed watching t.v., going to coffee at Hardees, going to the casino and sitting in his thinking chair. He is survived by his wife, Catherine of Sleepy Eye, daughters, Barbara (Scott) Beach of Apple Valley, MN, Betty (Mike) Braun of Sleepy Eye, grandchildren, Jeri (Todd) Watkins of Wabasso, Nancy (Steve) Nichols of Champlin, Greg (Bekah) Beach of Ypsilanti, MI, Tim Beach of Farmington, great-granchildren, Josey and Andy Watkins, Amanda and Amber Nichols and sister-in-law, Melanie Meyer of Sleepy Eye. He was preceded in death his parents, brothers, Robert and Delmar and sister-in-law, Irene.
