Donald Krebs

Donald Ike Ervin Krebs was born on December 20, 1928 in Brookville Township, the son of Walter and Luella (Meinert) Krebs. Don attended school in Brookville Township and later in Cobden. He worked for area farmers and at Ochs Brick Company. He spent his winters working in Minneapolis. On August 25, 1948 he was united in marriage to Violet Rosenau at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. In 1949 the couple farmed in Burnstown Township and later farmed near Evan for 4 years and in 1964 they moved to Leavenworth Township and farmed there until moving into Springfield in 1990. Don was a former member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Evan and an active member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. Don also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Sleepy Eye. Don enjoyed playing cards, crossword and word puzzles, playing checkers with his grandchildren, fishing, and hunting with his sons. Don Ike died on Friday, October 27, 2006 at the Springfield Medical Center at the age of 77 years. He is survived by his wife - Violet of Springfield; sons - Jerry and wife Karen Krebs of St. James, Steve and wife Mary Krebs of Sleepy Eye, and Mike and wife Mary Beth Krebs of Sleepy Eye; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister - LaVonne Paa and a brother - Marvin Krebs.
