Donald Johnson

Don was born in Madelia, MN on August 3, 1936. He grew up in Madelia and Linn Grove and upon graduating high school, he completed lab and x-ray training and then received a BA from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, MN. In 1957, while working at Spencer Municipal Hospital, he married Annette Kriens. In 1967, they moved to St. James, MN where Don served as the Hospital Administrator of Watonwan Memorial Hospital for the next 28 years. He then sold advertising for the St. James Plaindealer newspaper before embarking on a hobby of antique dealing which became his full time job well into retirement and up until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren Johnson, Marian Dokken, stepfather, Luther Dokken and brother, James Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Annette Johnson of Mankato, sister, Janet Johnson of Sioux Rapids, IA, daughter Monica Johnson of Sacramento, CA, daughter and son-in-law Sonya and Leonard Ludi of Olympia, WA and six grandchildren, Amanda Myers, Oniel Brandts, Sontiana Brandts, Andre Brandts, Melinda Tomanka and Mariah Brandts. The family wishes that donations in memory of Don be made to Mayo Clinic Health System in St. James or a charity of your choice. Interment Information Mt. Hope Cemetery, St. James S. CR 27 St. James, Minnesota, United States
