Donald Richard 'Don' Hirsch

Donald "Don" Richard Hirsch age 76, of Sleepy Eye, MN died unexpectedly but peacefully in his home on March 11th, 2021. Don was born on November 15, 1944 to Richard and Angeline "Angie" (Schons) Hirsch of Sleepy Eye, MN. Don graduated from Sleepy Eye St. Mary's High School in 1962. He served in the National Guard for 6 years. He worked at Miller & Sellner Implement for 47 years until retiring in 2011. During this time he also ran the family farm just outside of Sleepy Eye, MN. Don was united in marriage to Pamela "Pam" Ludewig on May 7th 1966. Together they raised three children Doug, Deanna, and Stacy. They were married for 49 years until God called Pam home in 2015. Don loved working outdoors and instilled his work ethic onto his children. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, doing chores around the farm, dancing and listening to music especially polka, playing cards and games and most of all visiting and being with friends and family. Don is survived by his loving family including his son, Douglas "Doug" Hirsch (Ricki) of Sleepy Eye; Doug's son's Brian Hirsch, Matthew "Matt" Hirsch & Ricki's children Trevor, Trenton, & Natalee Nachreiner, Deanna Nelson (Gary); their son Kyle Nelson of Sleepy Eye, and Stacy Strand (Andy); and their daughter's Katelyn and Lillian "Lily" Strand of Redwood Falls; and sister Mary Ann Frassel of Mankato, MN. He is preceded in death by his wife Pam Hirsch, parent's Richard and Angeline Hirsch, sister Marjorie "Margie" Broich and brother Jerome "Jerry" Hirsch and many other relatives and friends. He lived a simple but beautiful life filled with love and joy for all he met.
