Donald Arthur Henslin

Donald Arthur Henslin was born on August 31, 1931 to Ferdinand and Olga (Block) Henslin at Pleasant Mound Township, Willow Creek, MN. He was received into God's family through Infant Baptism at St. John's Lutheran Church (Willow Creek) on September 20, 1931. He renewed his Baptismal Vows on March 25, 1945. Don attended Willow Creek country school. On March 10, 1957 he was married to Arlene Zarn at St. John's Lutheran Church (Willow Creek). After their marriage, they settled in St. James and eventually on the original family farm. Four children were born to this union. Don served in the Korean War from February 5, 1952 to November 4, 1953. He continued serving his country by actively participating in the Lewisville, MN Honor Guard and was a life member of the VFW Post 1914 located in St. James, MN. Don and his wife owned and operated the Marigold/Kemps Dairy business servicing the greater St. James, MN area from 1964 to 1979. In the spring of 1981 they moved to the original family farm and enjoyed many years of farming until retiring. Several years ago he moved to Madelia to be closer to his wife Arlene who resides at Living Meadows. Don truly loved his Savior and wanted to do the Lord's will. He was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He served as a Church Elder and the Lutheran Laymen's League. He also served on the cemetery finance board. Donald Arthur Henslin age 87, of Madelia, formerly of St. James, died on April 5, 2019, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, MN. His infant son Gary preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Arlene; daughter Sandy (Lee) Houghton, grandson Ryan (Jennifer) Rucktaeschel and family, granddaughter Raja (Dwight) Brandt and family; daughter Sharon (Les) Putikka, grandson Nick (Shannon) Putikka and family, grandson Alex (Melissa) Putikka and family; daughter Karen (Brad) Ahrenstorff, granddaughter Kelly (Jim) Othoudt and family, granddaughter Katie (Zak) Brockberg and family; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
