Donald Marlin Halvorson, age 81, of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota was called home to his Heavenly Father on October 15, 2013. Donald was born on November 2, 1931 in Sibley County near Gibbon, Minnesota to Orlan and La Verna (Fahrenkamp) Halvorson. He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1949. He served in the United States Air Force from May 1951 to March 1955. He married Laurie Jean Lambert on July 25, 1981 in New Ulm, Minnesota. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Sleepy Eye for fifty years. He was proud to be a member of the Sleepy Eye Fire Department for 30 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, the American Legion Post Number 7 and the VFW Post Number 800. Donald enjoyed working, gardening, camping, and spending time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by his family and remembered for his one liners, words of wisdom, and his strong Christian faith. He is survived by his wife Laurie of Sleepy Eye; daughter Emily (Scott) Moertl of McDonough, GA; son Christopher and fiance Melissa Peloski of Maple Grove, MN; sons Paul, Dan, Tim and Joel; sisters Phyllis Halvorson of St. Peter, MN and Karen Ganske (Tom) of Sleepy Eye; brother-in-laws, Rev. Ted (Debra) Lambert of Silverdale, WA and Jerry Lambert of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Tom Ganske, and nephew, Joel Lambert.
