Dolores Curley Sneer was born on May 17, 1929 to Ole J. and Hazel (Oleson) Olson in Storden, MN. Raised on a farm outside of Storden, Dolores was baptized on July 21, 1929 and confirmed in her faith at Amo Lutheran Church, Storden. Dolores attended country school and graduated from Storden High School in 1947. She graduated from Mankato Teachers College in 1950 and earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Education from Mankato State University in 1973. In 1950, Dolores taught school one year in Huntley, MN. On January 7, 1951 Dolores was united in marriage to Donald Lloyd Sneer of Mountain Lake. For the next 12 years, Curley devoted herself to being a homemaker and raising her three children. In 1963, she resumed teaching for the Butterfield/Odin School District. Mrs. Sneer taught fourth, fifth and sixth grades, during her 31 years with the district before retiring in May 1994. Dolores was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and superintendent, VBS teacher, and choir director. Dolores was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and sang with the area Round Table Singers." Her hobbies included singing, reading, working crossword puzzles, writing poetry, and baking but her true joy was spending time with her family. She loved to make Sunday dinners and play games with her children and grandchildren. Grandma Curley was a loyal Wolverine sports fan and never missed her granddaughter's games. Dolores loved her dogs, Fritz and Emma, and was often seen taking them out for joy rides. Dolores died on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her children: Steven (Debra) Sneer, Brookings, SD, Janine (James) Penner, Butterfield, and Thomas Sneer, St. Peter; 7 grandchildren: Torrie Curtis and Adrey (Becky) Sneer, Hilary (Christopher) Bernsdorf and Marissa (Michael) Humburg, Hannah Glidden, Sean Sneer and Sophia Sneer; 5 great grandchildren: Ashley Curtis, Addison and Tenley Sneer, Drew Bernsdorf, and Madelyn Humburg; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Dolores and William Reimer; and many nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Donald ; parents; and sisters: Charlotte Stenke and LaDelle Trienen.
