Dolores Matilda Johnston was born August 2, 1928, in Prairieville Township, Brown County, the daughter of Albert J. and Emma (Schleisner) Augustin. She was baptized September 9, 1928, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Dolores was united in marriage to Robert Johnston on July 1, 1951. She worked at St. John's Hospital as a Nurse's Aide before joining her husband at the Springfield Chick Hatchery. Dolores later returned to St. John Lutheran Home where she worked for over 26 years. Family was always her top priority and she treated those she cared for at St. John's Home as her extended family. Dolores became a resident of Valley View Manor in 2002. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield and enjoyed reading, camping, fishing and feeding the birds. Dolores also enjoyed scrap-booking, embroidery, cooking and baking for her family, especially during the holidays, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Dolores Matilda Johnston died Monday, March 22, 2010, at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato at the age of 81 years. She is survived by husband Robert of Mankato; children- Renae (Steve) Kiner of Rochester, Michael (JoAnn) Johnston of Cushing, WI, Doreen (Harley) Johnson of Sanborn, Tim (Lauri) Johnston of St. Charles, Tom (Jill) Johnston of Hamel, Steve Johnston of Nelson, WI, Sandra (David) Gahl of Janesville, and Rob (Amy) Johnston of N. Mankato; 14 grandchildren; and brother Melvin (Lucille) Augustin of Blue Earth. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother Wilbert in infancy.
