Dianne Westman

Dianne Jane Baarson was born in St. James on March 4, 1947, the daughter of Albert and Irene (Sexton) Baarson. Dianne grew up in the Odin area and graduated from Butterfield High School. On August 28, 1965, she was united in marriage to Douglas Westman. The couple made their home in St. James where they raised their family. Dianne worked for JC Penney Co for several years. In 1978, she went to work at S.T. Industries as in purchasing. She worked there until her health forced her to retire in 2003. Dianne underwent two liver transplants in 2003 followed by several major surgeries. Dianne enjoyed traveling, spending summers camping in Butterfield, traveling to Texas for the winter, returning to watch their grandson's wrestle. Dianne and Doug were very active followers of their grandkids sporting activities. Even when her health wouldn't allow her to attend the event in person she would listen on the radio. Dianne loved the outdoors, she would enjoy watching the wildlife while camping or looking at wild flowers as she, Emily and Tracey went around the path in Butterfield. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends especially when she and Mary Ann would beat Donny and Doug in Cards. She is survived by her husband; Doug of St. James, daughter; Tracey (Chad) Gronewold of St. James, son; Troy Westman of St. James, brothers; Larry (Shirley) Baarson of Lisbon, ND, Dennis (Geraldine) Baarson of Richland, MI, Al (Laura) Baarson of Castle Rock, CO, grandchildren; Matt Westman, Ryan Westman, Tyler Westman, Emily Gronewold, several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister LaDonna Baarson, niece Twyla Snow and in-laws Edwin and Mildred Westman.
