Diane was born on June 24, 1961, to Gerhardt and Rosella Groebner in Burnstown Township, Brown County, Minnesota. As a graduate of Springfield Public School and lifelong Springfield resident, she spent more than 40 years working at St. John’s Lutheran Home. Her love for the work she did was matched by the very residents she so deeply cared for. Her passion was recognized as a recipient of the Minnesota Caregiver of the Year award.
She was united in marriage to Steve Marks on July 12, 1980, at United Methodist Church. Diane cherished her time with her family and grandkids, sitting on her deck, and admiring her flowers. She found joy in feeding and watching her birds in the backyard.
Those left to cherish Diane’s memory include her husband, Steve; children, Melissa (Sean) Burns, Ashley (Kyle) Swanson, Cassandra (Mike) Halter, Brandon (Sadie) Marks; and eight grandchildren, Mason Luck, Jack and Chet Swanson, Alivia, Adilyn and Grahm Halter, and Brekyn and McCoy Marks. In addition, she is survived by her brothers and sisters: Gary (Deb) Groebner, Larry (Ann) Groebner, Janice (Patrick) Hoffmann, Karen (Gary) Jensen, Allan (Robin) Groebner, Jim (Elsie) Groebner, Rose (Barry) Hoecherl, Deb (Duane) Feser, David (Sandy) Groebner, Richard (Jayna) Groebner, and Julie (Steve) Platz; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Lynn) Tessmer, Rhonda (Larry) Mickelson, Shari (Charlie) Baumann, and Lynn Marks; and many nieces and nephews.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Rosella and Gerhardt Groebner; brother, Michael Groebner; parents-in-law, Curt and Shirley Marks; and brother-in-law, Dean Marks.
While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering.
