Diane Kathleen Hemmingsen

Diane Kathleen Hemmingsen was born on February 17, 1944, to Alfred Precht and Rose Bertha (Heller) Precht at their home in rural Hector, Minnesota and died in her home in Sanborn, Minnesota surrounded by her family on July 23, 2025 at the age of 81. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Diane attended school in Hector, Minnesota and graduated in 1962. Diane and James were united in marriage on November 2, 1963, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hector, Minnesota. Of this union they had 2 sons and 2 daughters. Diane and James celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on November 2, 2024.

After marriage they lived in several small towns before settling in Sanborn, Minnesota in 1984 where Diane was the head cook for the Sanborn School District until the Sanborn school closed. She was never one to shy away from doing something different, and she later went on to work at Mountain Power and ran a CNC lathe and worked with her husband and son until her retirement. After retiring she enjoyed sitting outside in her swing doing embroidery and just being outside in nature. She especially loved seeing and feeding the deer that would wander into their yard in Sanborn. She also enjoyed quilting, going to thrift stores and just spending time with her family.

Diane is survived by her husband, James Hemmingsen of Sanborn, Minnesota, children - Kelly (Randy) Pankonin of rural Sanborn, Minnesota, Jerome (Angie) Hemmingsen of Westbrook, Minnesota, Shelly (Troy) Irlbeck of Wanda, Minnesota and Travis (Danielle) Hemmingsen of Madelia, Minnesota and her sister, Caroline Lade of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Skipper.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Lester, Elmer and Eugene Precht, her sister Florence Nelson and several in-laws.
