Dewayne Grev

DeWayne Ellwood Grev was born on March 24, 1928 to Simon and Irene (Jacobson) Grev at Monterey (now Trimont), MN. He was baptized and later confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church near Odin, MN. DeWayne received his education at Martin County District 71 country school and St. James High School, graduating in 1946. In 1946, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in occupation of Japan during WW II. On January 12, 1951, DeWayne was united in marriage to Dorothy Peters at the Lutheran Parsonage in Butterfield, MN. They made their home and farmed together in the Odin area for a number of years before he began working for Land O Lakes. He retired from Land O Lakes in 1990, after 30 years of service. He then worked at Kennel-Aire part time for six years. Dorothy died on February 9, 2000. He enjoyed fishing, reading and traveling, and DeWayne was a life member of the Donald V. Larson VFW Post 9607 of Butterfield. DeWayne died on Thursday morning, March 11, 2010 at his home in Mountain Lake, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two grandsons; two brothers, Merlin and Sherwood Grev; and a sister, Delores Anderson. DeWayne is survived by his six children, Gary (Pat) Grev of maple Grove, MN, Craig (Karen) Grev of Byron, MN, Denise (Mike) Linscheid of Butterfield, Andrea (Verlo) Adrian of Windom, MN, Valerie Coners of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Cory (Julia) Grev of Rochester, MN; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
